Warrior

I imagine a warrior. A warrior clothed in armor that is unshakeable and invincible. An armor that has been hand-crafted, perfectly shaped, and divinely designed.

There is a belt; thick and snug. It is banded with valuable fibers, fibers of truth and light. Fibers that run deep and to the core of her entire being.

There is also a breastplate; heavy but all worthwhile. This breastplate has been worn and worn and worn. Possibly and probably damaged. Yet, it still gleams in the moonlight that is overtaking the day. It covers her entire figure, showing her righteousness to be in this army. A righteousness that has only been achieved by her willingness to follow.

Her shoes leave no room for doubt; the coverings on them show no signs of the torn, scarred, blemished, achy feet that she has been traveling in. Instead, an enemy could only see the perfection that comes from peace; a peace that only comes from the calling of a Kingdom.

The warrior's stance is a stance of courage, preparation, knowledge, and practice. It is low, steady, strong, and unwavering. Because of this, her shield is held high. This shield is large and overpowering, but not overbearing. It's shadow covers the ground she walks on, and domineers all winds that come against her. It is her faith that carries this shield, and faith that creates this shield.

All you can see of the warrior, behind the shield and under the armor, are her eyes under her helmet. These eyes have seen darkness, but choose to look forward and upward. These eyes are deep and dark, not out of fear or anger, but out of determination. The helmet, which she received on the day she made her choice and the day He made His, is not a masquerade but a veil that pronounces who she belongs to, and where she is headed.

This warrior is armed and ready; ready for an attack of deception, lies, or betrayal. She is not on a quest for killing, but a quest of defeat, triumph, and glory. And she never stands alone. Ever.

Though I may not gain ground each day, succesfully conquer fears, or battle all struggles, I will still stand strong as a warrior that is fighting for truth and for the Kingdom of God. Each day may not be victorious, but I am not willing to give away any ground I have already claimed. I will not waver or falter, not with the knowledge that I am a child who is forgiven, loved, desired, and delighted in. I may have a day that causes me to pull the shield up higher, but I will never have a day that causes me to lay that shield down, remove my helmet of salvation, and walk out of those shoes. Not for a day. Not even for a minute.

Ephesians 6: 10-18

10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we[a] are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.[b] 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.[c] 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere

  1. Very descriptive- I like it! Too many think that Christians are armor clad in order to be on defense, but you know the truth- keep moving forward!
