Desired

I'm not usually one to post two things in one day. None of you want to read what little I have to say more than once. However, this topic has been such an eye-opener for me, and probably just a refresher for many of you. But please, oh please, catch this.

I'm happy to report that I have found a Bible study again. Bible studies are what feed me, keep my mind fresh, and my heart open. I like the small setting and the fact that I can give input and get input from others. I truly thrive, spiritually, off of Bible studies. This one just so happens to be with my future-Father-in-law. Lucky gal, right?

Last night, we read Genesis. These are just portions...

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
3 Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
6 Then God said, “Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.
9 Then God said, “Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.” And that is what happened.
Then God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them mark off the seasons, days, and years. 15 Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth.” And that is what happened
24 Then God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind—livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.” And that is what happened.

Just imagine how beautiful this must have been. It was particular, creative, orderly, and immaculate. After each thing He did, He said that it was good. The whole earth was as it should be. And then...

26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

And because we know that our God is all knowing, we understand that He already knew we would sin. He knew that we would ruin his perfect earth. Yet, He chose us. He chose to create us and live in His creation. That should speak something to our hearts and our purpose. He could have had perfection without us.

And girls, it gets even better...

2:18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”

God desired man and created man in His image. He created man to be creative and loving. But He knew that wasn't quite enough, and he loved man so much that He wanted him to have a companion and true helper. None of this beautiful creation would have been perfected, in God's eyes, until man and woman came along. And doesn't that make your heart swell with gratitude? You are here because God desired you. God completed the world with you in mind.

Thanks, Bill, for the wonderful teaching.
